Language Experience-Part 1
Today we were really lucky to have extra teachers in our class. They came to do some writing with us. Before we wrote we participated in activities that they had organised.
One of the activities was making soap!
We started with Lux flakes. They smelt really nice and they felt soft.
Then we added a little water and mixed.
After that we chose what colour we wanted out soap to be and added some.
Then it was mix, mix, mix, until it clumped together. Then we got our hands in to press our soap into balls or containers.
Mrs Anderson has taken them away so they can dry a bit then we will be able to take them home.
We wrote stories about what we had done and we added lots of 'wow' words, to describe how the soap felt, smelt, and looked.
Thank you Mrs Anderson.
One of the other activities was making
rain shakers.
We started with some rice. It was hard, small, looked white, and made a noise like rain when we dropped it into a container.
Mrs Plank gave us a tube each. We could look through it like a telescope.
We wanted to put the rice into the tube but it kept falling out the bottom.
Mrs Plank gave us some plastic to put on the bottom. We had it hold the plastic with one hand while putting a rubber-band around the tube. It was a bit
tricky but we showed perseverance. We then added some rice to our tube and then put another piece of plastic on the end.
We made some beautiful music with our rain shaker.
Thank you Mrs Plank.
