I wish I was day

I wish I was .....

We had a super day dressing up as something we wanted to be.

We also got to support Make-a-wish New Zealand.

Today we raised money so that someone
with a critical illness could make
their wish come true.

Our buddy class

Our buddy class visit us each Friday.  During these visits we share books, stories, our art, and this week we shared our play.

  • Before we took our buddy to an area that we wanted to work in we sat down and explained the rules around our play.
  • We usually have our trains, blocks, lego, family area on the floor, so it is very important to look down as you move around the class.
  • We love our friends to join in where we are playing, but they need to ask first because sometimes we like to work alone or with just one other.
  • If we need to leave our work area we will leave our name tag so that everyone knows that someone is still working there.
  • We use 'inside' or 'whispering' voices in the classroom.

We really look forward to Fridays 😊

Cultural Parade - 12 April 2018

It was a fantastic day.
We had many families join us to share their cultures.

Our Room 17 children looked awesome in their cultural dress.

After the parade our parents shared some things from their culture - counting, how to say hello, origami, food and gifts.

Adams mum Jenny came and showed us how to make a 'Catapult Plane'.  All the parents helped us with the origami, folding, glueing, rubber bands and finally, flying through the air.

After flying our planes we shared some of the food from the different cultural groups that make up our class.
Golly those planes could fly really far. The children and I had competitions the next day to see whose plane flew the furtherest.

What a absolutely super day we had.
The food, activities, cultural dress, gifts and company were terrific.
Thank you to all our families for helping us to learn more about other cultures and traditions.
