Matariki Celebrations

We have invited our parents and whanau to join us at school on Thursday 29th June.  They will be able to hear us sing some waiata and perform a jump jam song and then come back to our classes to eat their lunch with us.  When we have finished eating our lunch they can have a look around our class to see all the awesome art that we do.

We decorated some biscuits for Matariki.  We will eat them at lunch time on Thursday, when our families come to visit us.  The icing tasted really nice.

Matching Patterns

On Fridays after morning tea our Buddy Class come to visit us.  They read with us and sometimes we do an activity.
Today we played matching games.

There are lots of puzzles to choose from

The children and their buddy move around as they finish them

Pictures or patterns need to be matched

They talk about the patterns

the colours, size

and the differences.

It is awesome to see my students and their buddy talking and learning from each other.

Matariki Bird Feeders

Matariki is nearly here.
We have been talking about Matariki,  reading about Matariki, watching stories online and also singing songs.  What does Matariki mean to us?

We wanted to provide food for the birds.

Cheerio Bird feeder:  cheerios,  pipe cleaners,  string, name tag

Here are our finished Bird Feeders.
We are taking them home to hang in a tree in our garden.

The Gingerbread Man

We read about the Gingerbread Man today.  The story was so funny and we were able to join in with the words . . .

"Run, run as fast as you can . . .
You can't catch me I'm the Gingerbread man".

Here are the gingerbread people that we made.

                                        and they were so yummy.
